Dall's Sheep

Males only fight before breeding. At about seven to nine years old the males fight with each other to determine their place in the ram and herd's pecking order. This is the time when the ram's horns have made a complete curl. Annuli is the pattern of growth on the rings of the Dall's Sheep. These horns are made of the same material as your finger nails but are much heavier. The bigger the horns the older the sheep is.

Some of these predators that target Dall's Sheep are: bears, golden eagles, wolves, and humans. Though more difficult to get to because of their habitat meat hunters do target Dall's sheep because of their fine meat.

Dall's Sheep average life span is about twelve years but some have lived longer. Most generally, a 12-year-old sheep is considered an old timer. Dall sheep are a hoofed animal like deer, elk, cows etc.
