A Passion for Pyramids - Part II


well. They have given Cheops and his descendants (the builders of the other pyramids) true eternal life. His name is spoken every day of every year and his monument is known throughout the world as the symbol of Egypt.

“The pyramid has become an icon for things Egyptian and a symbol of permanence, the latter feature linking well to its ancient function as an everlasting royal tomb,” said Spencer.

These facts and theories only begin to scratch the surface of the mysteries of The Great Pyramid. Many will consider the extraterrestrial theory fanciful, but like many others, it does have its supporters and therefore is worth mentioning. Perhaps this article will serve its ultimate purpose, to whet your appetite for more.

The next time you are surfing past The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel or PBS and see the pyramids pop up on your screen, stop for a moment – you might learn something, even if you do miss the Thursday Night Smackdown or whatever else happens to be on.
