This summer, The Great Canadian Adventure Company is offering driving tours of Southern Saskatchewan. The Great Canadian Adventure Company, established in 1994, provides a variety of adventure and eco travel adventures throughout all of the provinces and territories in Canada. These adventures boast experienced guides and outfitters who are proven leaders in their field as well as accommodation at wilderness lodges, resorts and guest ranches selected to provide a wide range of comfort levels.
The Saskatchewan Historic Driving Tour is aimed at those individuals wanting to explore the history and culture of southern Saskatchewan. The tour begins with a visit to the Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon where participants will follow trails that pass a medicine wheel, buffalo pound and tipi rings. The tour continues through Last Mountain Lake and into the Qu'Appelle and Echo Valleys for bird watching, hiking, fishing, and enjoyment of the natural area. The tour then heads to Regina to visit the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and walk through Regina's Cathedral District. The 9 day tour ends with a canoe trip on the South Saskatchewan River whereas the 14 day tour continues with a visit to the St. Victor's Petroglyphs, a visit to Grasslands National Park, camping in the Killdeer Badlands, a day at Lake Diefenbaker, a trip to the sand dunes at Douglas Provincial Park, and a second canoe trip on the South Saskatchewan River. The 20 day tour includes 5 days of horseback riding in the Great Manitou Sandhills.
Three tours are available. The 9 day tour costs $2190.00. The 14 day tour costs $2390.00. The 20 day tour costs $3450.00. Costs include all transportation while on the tour, accommodation, and all meals while on the tour. Admission, camping, park fees, costs for guides, and all required equipment are also included in this fee.
Transportation while on the tour will be in a 15 passenger van. Accommodations include hotel accommodations in Saskatoon at the start and end of the trip, one night in a tipi, and one night at a local restored convent. The remainder of the trip is tent camping along the route.
