The Inkas and their Ancestors is a 16 day archaeological study tour offered by Far Horizons. Far Horizons was founded in 1982 by a Maya archaeologist. This company specializes in designer tours to areas with significant archaeological and indigenous heritage. Many of their staff members are former archaeologists and anthropologists. Furthermore, in 2001, Forbes Magazine named Far Horizons Archaeological and Cultural Trips, Inc as one of the top 100 web sites, number three under the category of Cultural Travel.
The Inkas and their Ancestors tour is led by Dr. William D. Sapp, III. Dr. Sapp
received his MA in Anthropology from California State University, Northridge and his PhD from UCLA. He is an Adjunct Professor at California State University, Northridge.
The Inkas and their Ancestors explores various archaeologically significant sites dating from the height of the Inka empire. The tour starts along the north coast at ChanChan, where participants will see archaeologists conducting excavations at the tomb. Next, the tour will visit several museums and archaeological sites in Lima. Participants will then experience traditional Peruvian culture by visiting villages along the journey to the Inka sites of Cuzco, Machu Picchu, the cemetery at San José de Moro, the tombs of Sipán, the oracle center of Pachacamac, and the Inka fortress of Ollantaytambo.
Those participants opting for the Nazca Extension will continue on with the tour for three more days. During these three days, the tour will continue to Ica, Tambo Colorado, and Museo de Sitio de Paracas. Particpants will also fly over the Nazca Lines while on board a small plane.
Cost for The Inkas and their Ancestors is $5395.00. This fee includes round trip airfare from Houston to Lima as well as all Peruvian internal flight; all hotels; most meals (as listed in the itinerary); ground transportation; and entry fees. This fee does not include; passport or visa fees; airport taxes; beverages or food not included on regular menus; laundry; excess baggage charges; personal tips; alcoholic drinks; telephone and fax charges; or other items of a personal nature. The Nasca Extension costs an additional fee of $875.00.
