Kitchen:   Almost all renters have a basic set of dishes – four plates, four bowls, four cups, and four small plates plus silverware. If you entertain a lot, invest in paper plates or get an extra set or two of plates and bowls. Some grocery store chains often offer a buy-a-week deal where you can get a set of dishes for a deeply discounted price. Every week a new set becomes available for purchase.
Paper cups are for parties. Plastic or glass cups are for everyday use. Try to find cups that are easy to wash or dishwasher safe.   With cups and dishes you need silverware. The finer the silver quality, the more expensive the set. Sets with intricate settings, colors, or engravings are more expensive. Typically you will need at least butter knives, spoons, and forks plus a hostess set.
Avoid cutting boards with grooves or holes since bacteria will hide in those places and multiply. The best cutting boards have feet on the bottom so the board won’t slide while you cut. Get the board large enough to cut melons and large pieces of meat.
Paper towels are great for quick clean up and for other daily uses.   Nothing is more useful than a nice set of knives and a pair of all-purpose kitchen scissors. You need at least three good knives – a bread knife, a large all-purpose knife, and a paring knife. Go To Page: 1 2
