An Appraisal Fair

The day was fun, we learned a few things, and walked away with cute canvas tote bags as our "thank-you" gifts, just for attending!

If you attend an appraisal fair or perhaps charity function featuring appraisals, be prepared to bring items that you don't mind holding for a while as you stand in long lines. If you want furniture to be appraised, bring photos instead. Find out if the appraiser(s) are well-known and have good reputations. Take notes! Especially determine if the value given is an auction price or an insurance value. These may be very different! At the very least you will have had a learning experience and may indeed discover you've got a treasure!
