Sir William Johnson, Baronet (1715-1774)

political environment within which Johnson carried out his decisions and actions as Indian Superintendent. Excellent resource.

"Portrait from an Earlier Angle", by Johnny Beauvais at Peaceweb. Beauvais' article is from the perspective of a modern descendent of the Mohawks who knew Johnson and suffered the consequences of their loyalty to him and the British after the American Revolution. It is a fascinating and much-needed account.

Herkimer/Montgomery Counties Webpage - verbatim copy of the "Pioneer History of the Holland Purchase of Western New York: Some Account of the Ancient Remains; A Brief History of Our Immediate Predecessors, The Confederated Iroquois, Their System of Government, Wars, Etc. - A Synopsis of Colonial History: Some Notices of the Border Wars of the Revolution: And A History of Pioneer Settlement Under the Auspices of the Holland Company; Includes Reminiscenses of the War of 1812; The Origin, Progress and Completion of the Erie Canal, Etc. Etc. Etc." (that's its title!) written in 1850. Absolutely wonderful account of public opinion nearly 75 years after Johnson's death.
