A Building Goes from Trash to TreasureOnce again, a part of Syracuse's architectural heritage regains its dignity and its usefulness -two elements missing from the scene for too long. August 1, 2005: An anonymous reader sent me this message: "The switching yard in East Syracuse was not built for the newer railroad station. It existed since at least the early 20th century, the height of rail travel, and can be seen in many old postcards. Greyhound did not depart Syracuse. It moved to the newly built Regional Transportation Center along with Amtrak, but the RTC is still well inside Syracuse city limits." I appreciate this information. I did not live in Syracuse from 1970 to 1997, and I was relying on a faulty memory for some of the information in this article written two years ago. We need our readers to keep us on our toes!
