SailorMoon: Sailor Stars

Things of course get very odd when Seiya develops a bit of a crush on Usagi, which is really just more of a cute twist of fate than anything else. Mamoru is off in America studying abroad in college, and the girls are all starting their first year in high school.

The animation in Sailor Moon: Stars is very different from that of the earlier seasons. The colors are a little sharper and the characters are more stylized than before. This is likely due to the animation trends in Japan at the time. Usagi and her friends also evolve as people. They become less like the charicatures they were and develop their personalities. This makes the series more enjoyable for the veteran fan, newbies might get confused by all the differences.

I also enjoyed the music from Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars. Because the series prominently features a pop band, there's a lot of concert scenes with some catchy tunes, even if they are a little syrupy and the English grammar isn't perfect. Don't worry though, Japanese boy bands (even ficticous ones) leave the American groups far behind.

Sailor Moon stars likely won't be coming to the U.S. on television or on video, however it is rather easy to obtain fansubbed copies, there are a large number of raw tapes also available. It may take a little searching, but it's definitely worth the effort.
