The series opened up well enough, with a large spaceship discovering and picking up a female android, but skipped right to a scene of Cacao (a holy virgin) performing some sort of purification ritual which involved a single translucent veil, and a great deal of panting and groaning and ended abruptly with the arrival of Parfait, a "holy virgin" in training.
It's not uncommon for a series to open up with moderate amounts of cleavage in order to draw in a larger audience, but Knights of Ramune never stopped. I'm not unused to watching anime with sketchy plots, but the constant display of topless females was too great a distraction for me to be able to concentrate on what story line there was.
Cacao and Parfait, two best friends are given the mission of finding and rescuing the Knight Sir Ramune and bringing him to help with- some sort of battle, the details of which were never fully explained. Parfait and Cacao land on a large spaceship in time to see it destroy the main cities of a planet. They explore the ship to find several children being held hostage and set them free. Afterwards they find the man in charge of the ship, an abusive, vengeful, dictator who introduces himself as Sir Ramune. The two girls run in shock and escape in a highly advanced mecha, followed by a tiny elf girl with an annoyingly high voice. Ramune chases after them and sends several of his best pilots to bring them and the mecha back. With no knowledge of the robots systems, Parfait and Cacao manage to defeat their enemys, at least for some time.
