The story line is intense and unveils thrilling layers of intrigue. It is finely complimented by the high production value of the anime itself with the use of its breath taking visuals. The soulful songs done by famous Japanese pop singer angela, along with the orchestral score, serve to enhance an already superb anime. If you've been missing such high quality sci-fi the likes of Evangelion and Gundam Seed, don't miss Fafner volume 1. Fafner Volume 1 scores a high 9/10 kendo swords. Rating: This anime is rated 13 and up for some animated violence. Release Information: Fafner Volume 1, contains the first four episodes, comes out as disc only or the disc with a limited edition collector's box to hold all 7 volumes. Fafner Volume 1 is available July 5th. Mermaid Forest Volume 1 Quest for Death "From the loneliness of immortality there is but one escape..." Mermaid Forest is another Geneon release of a completely different nature. A haunting supernatural tale brought to us by famed writer and artist Rumiko Takahashi. Known for her popular animes such as Ranma ½ and Inu Yasha, here she delves deeper into the horror as we are given a disturbing take on the consequences of immortality. Mermaid Forest volume 1 Quest for Death tells us of an ancient Japanese legend that says if you were to consume to flesh of a mermaid, eternal life and youth shall be yours. A simple fisherman named Yuta ate that flesh 500 years ago and became immortal. Only to learn the true horror a never ending life can hold. He has had to bury loved one after loved one and continue his life in constant loneliness to the point where now all he longs for is to regain his mortality and with it, death. For centuries now he has looked for a mermaid, hoping it can tell him the secret to regaining his mortality. In doing so he comes meets a young woman named Mana, also an immortal. Together they continue the search for a way to end the curse of eternal life. However, the search proves more hazardous as others who long for that same power to never die, hunt the two down. Together, Yuta and Mana must search for a cure while being faced with the worse nature of mankind. The first volume begins in the present day with how Mana and Yuta first meet, while the following two episodes go back in time to show
