Tsukihime Lunar Legend Review of Volumes 1 to 3 and Rumiko Takahashi's Anthology Volume 3This anime is described as a supernatural thriller and yet it is so much more than one might expect from the genre. There's the mystery around them all, nearly all the main and secondary characters hide secrets. The story is also in part a romance, unexpected and poignant; it never treads the line into melodrama. And it is also a tale of love, not only romantic but also the ties of love that bind some people, motivate others to do amazing sacrifices, and other's whom love destroys. It is also a tale about fate, destiny. And surprisingly of all to me, it is also a story about power and the responsibility that comes with it, for in the end, Shiki must choose. He must decide to put away his childhood fears and the secrets he learns, or be trapped by them. By taking the steps of adulthood he must confront not only the secrets surrounding him, the awful ability he must control, but he finally will have to face the truth about himself as well. This series is rated 16 and up for good reason. It has some graphic horror violence and mature themes not suitable for younger viewers. That being said, if you are of age, I highly recommend you give this a look if the subject matter appeals to you. This is an anime that far surpassed my expectations and has become one of my top ten favorites. It rates a well deserved 10/10 on the kendo rating scale. Tsukihime Lunar Legend is a three volume series released by Geneon. They are available now for purchase or rent where available. From the very beginning with its opening whimsical song this anime is charming from start to finish. The first story is that of an elderly woman given a supernatural ability after a near death experience. An ability which helps her make amends for a love lost many years ago. The second story involves a dispute between neighbors in a condominium and the mina bird that helps. And the third installment is that of a fellow whose wife has passed on, but not left as she resides in his living room waiting...but waiting for what? Each tale has a rare
