Greetings to all Suite101.com readers. I'm fortunate enough to be the new writer who will be reviewing anime DVDs for you. I look forward to this opportunity and hope you enjoy reading my articles as much as I do writing them. And now, on to my first article as an offical author here on Suite101.com.

"You will take responsibility for having killed me."

Tsukihime Lunar Legend is a riveting, beautiful, haunting and tragic tale. The story opens on a boy who is told he just survived a terrible accident. An accident he cannot remember. Not only does he wake with amnesia, but also with an awful, horrifying power: he can see the Lines of Death that connect everything. With just a few cuts along those lines he can cause anything to be destroyed immediately...or anyone.

Tsukihime Lunar Legend is a three volume series comprising the complete twelve episodes (four episodes per disc). It tells the story of that boy now a young man, Shiki, who lives a seemingly ordinary life with ordinary friends. And yet he abides in a house with a sister and two maids fighting to keep him safe...or under control? Serial murders are being committed around the city. An ominous air permeates the story filling the viewer with a tense feeling of dread. That's when he meets a strange woman who elicits a violent, uncontrollable reaction from him. The next day he believes it was all just a bad dream. That is until he meets her again and she confronts him with those words that will stay with me for a long time:

"You will take responsibility for having killed me."

From there a tale of secrets, violence, and tragedy unfolds. And that's just the first episode.

It may seem like a lot packed in yet this anime unfolds at a natural pace. It never felt rushed to me or too slow. I simply couldn't put it down. At the end of each episode I quickly put in the next. The animation was beautiful, the sound and voice talent fantastic. The music is primarily orchestral scores that add to the haunting sense of tragedy surrounding the characters we meet while never detracting from the story itself. At times melancholic and poignant, at other times disturbing, this tale of mystery, love and loss is not to be missed. Watch this series to discover the secrets the Tohno family hides, the truth about the White Princess; a vampire tied to the young man's fate, and the fate that awaits them all.
