Jimmy Neutron is an example of TV's genius

Okay, I'm a stickler for the little things: how and when were the amusement rides obtained and altered to become spaceships? Why could all the children breathe in outer space without helmets? Why did almost no time pass between the time they left Retroville and the time they returned?

Of course, I'm an adult. My kids didn't notice the aberrations, nor did they care. To be fair, the movie was a little fun. I especially liked the egg-yolk aliens in their egg-shaped suits and their chicken god! They even forced their captives, the parents, to dance the Chicken Dance of wedding custom, before the chicken god was to devour them. I also liked Jimmy's parents - they understand him and accept his quirks; they're also a bit more intelligent than Dexter's parents.

In this movie the kids get angry with their parents for having too many rules (normal). The kids have a blast when their parents can't tell them what rides to rides at the amusement park (normal), what sweets not to eat (normal), and when to go to sleep or go to school (normal). OK, so this movie is a mirror image of most kids' reality. It is also something that espouses an idea we parents like to emphasize - "You need us!"

There are no strong themes from which to protect kids, although the very sensitive might not like the thought that maybe mom and dad will not come back. I'd say, however, since Jimmy Neutron will be invading living rooms soon enough, if your kids want to see this movie on the big screen, go for it!
