I have been tested for Toxoplasmosis and have found to be carrying the antibodies. I asked to be tested for my two previous pregnancies, also. All three of the results were the same. Since I had the antibodies, I obviously had the infection at one time in my life. There are ways to determine if the infection is recent, but fortunately for me, I'm found to be a "past infectee."
So, should you get rid of your cat because your pregnant? Well, only you can decide what's right for you and your baby, however if you are worried about Toxoplasmosis, speak to your doctor. Personally, I don't think such drastic measures are needed. Just stay away from the litterbox AND the rare meat! By the way, do cats suck the breath out of a sleeping baby? That's a whole other story...Let's just say that both my kids, ages 12 and 7, are alive and doing well.. Go To Page: 1 2
