Your Valentine gives you a big box of your favorite chocolates.
That's what humans do on Valentine's day, eat excessive amounts of chocolate, savoring every bite. Fido is lying on his favorite area carpet, watching you enjoy eating every bite. Finally, Fido can't take it anymore. He wants in on what looks like a good thing to him. He walks over to you, sits down beside you, and looks up at you with his big sad puppy dog eyes.
This usually gets him what he wants. You look at him, wanting to share your chocolate feast with him. Do you? Absolutely not! Not if you want to have Fido around for the next holiday.
Chocolate may be wonderful for humans, but for dogs it's a health hell, even fatal! Dogs will chew out of boredom, curiosity, or to induce vomiting, substances such as toxic plants, chocolate, or peciticides, according to the article at the Canine.com site. For more information, including where to find twenty-four by seven help, access Canines.com. According to the article, "Your Dog and Fast Food" by Arden Moore, chocolate is the deadliest junk food. The article quotes Bonnie Beaver, DVM, at Texas A&M, as saying that chocolate can cause siezures in dogs and kill them. Beaver continues by saying that for a twenty-five pound beagle, it takes about twenty-five ounces of milk chocolate. For more detailed information access "Your Dog and Fast Food." At the About Featured Link site, in the article,"Foxtails and Poisons to Dogs," a formula for inducing vomiting is given, but it also emphasizes calling your vet immediately. For more detailed information on this subject, access "Foxtails and Poisons to Dogs," by going to Health/Veterinary, Emergencies and Poisons, and then to Foxtails and Poisons to Dogs. Before you let Fido charm you into sharing your Valentine Chocolate with him, remember that Fido doesn't know what he's begging for. It is up to you to protect Fido. Go To Page: 1
