Animal Abuse Resources

Animal abuse is prevalent in human society. People who abuse animals are emotionally immature. Being aware of the available resources and how to use them can help to end these injustices against animals by the emotionally unstable.

The ALDF, Animal Legal Defense Fund, has a number and action line for reporting current animal abusers and cases in communities. This site also provides what information people need to provide the action line when reporting known abusers and cases. The site also gives advice about further action that can be taken against animal abuse. The ALDF National Database contains data on cruelty convictions and sentences and information on violence to animals and humans. This site also tells how the ALDF is working to end violent animal abuse through education.

Another interesting site is titled Animal Abuse is a Warning Signs. At this site, articles on animal abuse and child abuse can be accessed. Also mentioned is a petition filed by the American Humane Association that addresses the need for the federal government to investigate domestic violence and animal abuse. More information at this site may be accessed to find the link between domestic violence and animal abuse and crime.

IDA, In Defense of Animals, addresses abuse to animals in Asia, as well as the western world. Some of the Action Alerts mentioned are an Elephant Cruelty Bill, cock fighting, dog meat trade in Korea, and the unwillingness of authorities to enforce Animal Protection Laws. This site has other interesting issues it addresses and is worth accessing.

The American Pet Registry site provides information about regostering your pet, trying to find animals, reporting lost animals, reporting abuse, adopting a new animal, and shopping the site for anything your pet needs; it's also a place for accessing the top 100 dog sites. This is a resource for people trying to locate a lost or stolen pet or for people wanting a new pet.

Through Their Eyes, The National Animal Abuse Registry, maintains abuser files. Some of the areas that are available to access are alleged cases, criminal cases, open cases, dismissed cases, shame report, graphic pictures, and high profile cases. The site is for animal adoption organizations and animal shelters to access to determine if a potential adopter has a previous record of animal abuse. This site also provides some interesting information about the number of households in the United States that have one or more pets and the link between child abuse and animal abuse.
