You're at your home and you hear something breaking in the kitchen. You rush to the kitchen and as you get to the door, your doggie speeds past you so fast you only see a blur of fur.
On the floor you find a carton of eggs and an everyday plate that did contain the meat for tonight's leftovers. The refrigerator door is open. Earlier that day your bottom cabinet doors were pried open and trash was decorating your living room. This did not happen while you were gone but while you were working on your computer in another part of the house. What do you do about a dog, who is like an eternal toddler and into everything? If there were solutions in cyberspace for this particular problem, I did not find very many. However, I did find some information and discovered some personnal solutions, which may be helpful.
When your dog gets into your cabinets, it is behaving like a toddler. One possible solution is to buy some latches for the cabinets, which are used by parents of toddlers to child proof the cabinets. These are usually found in the baby section of retail stores and cost under ten dollars for a package of four. If you have a standard size doorway into your kitchen, but not a door, you may want to consider a gate , which is used to confine toddlers to a room. This works for many small to medium dogs. What about the refrigerator? Can a dog acutally get a refrigerator door open? I know for a fact that it can and has happened. Depending on the refrigerator design and the dog, it is possible. One possibility to try is an appliance lock for the refrigerator. If you want to keep the dog away from the refrigerator completely, there are also scat mats , which are electronic devices to modify a dogs behavior. Go To Page: 1
