Mar 19, 2001
The next ten verses deal with the importance of Dharma. They discuss the value of virtues in human life.
Verse (1)
Sirappu Yeenum Selvamum yeenum Arathinnoonghu
Aakkam yevanoo uyerkku.
Explanation:
A virtuous life on the path of Dharma opens the gates of heaven and earth's prosperity. What is more rewarding that this to man?
Doing good things, having compassion, helping those in need and being selfless comes naturally to some people like the flow of water current. It brings them fame and good wishes. Even the heaven's gates are open to people who are virtuous. Verse (2)
Arathinoonghu Aakkamum illai Adhanai
Maratthalin Oonghu illai kay du.
Explanation:
The reward of virtuous life is bountiful. But there is no greater ruin or punishment than the neglect of Dharma/ Virtue.
Leading a virtuous life gives one fame, name, wealth and even heavens. But ignoring Dharma and treading on wrong path, ruins ones life. Good deeds only come from pure mind. We must not ruin our life by neglecting virtues/ Dharma.
There is no greater reward than the reward one gets on leading a virtuous life on the path of Dharma.
