The Importance Of Rain - Verse 11 & 12


After rendering his prayers to the Gods, Saint Thiruvalluvar sings the praise of RAIN - the life source of all the creatures on the earth. In the next ten verses the Saint thanks the Rain.


Verse (11)
Van Nindru ulagham vazhangi varudhalal Than Amizhdham yendru unarar pattru
Explanation:
It is the rainfall that sustains the life on the earth. Look at it as the NECTAR of life.
Without the rains from the sky, there would be no life on the earth. It the rain water that cools the parched dry earth and supports countless life forms. The saint aptly compares rain to NECTOR of life.


Verse (12)
Thupparkku Thuppaya thuppakkith Thupparkkuth Thuppaya Thuum Mazhai.
Explanation:
Besides directly forming a part of man's food intake, the rain also provides wholesome food for the humanity indirectly.
The Saint explains that rain water is used to cultivate and harvest food grains. The rain thus indirectly feeds man. Also it is consumed directly by man and it quenches his thirst. Such is the greatness of rain water.

All the species on the earth and fed by the rain. Hence Rain is truly a Nectar of life.
