Most of us know that baking soda can be used to deodorize a refrigerator or freezer, but this product can be used in many other ways around the house.
For cleaning: Four tablespoons of baking soda dissolved in a quart of warm water is a general-purpose cleaner. Pour the baking soda onto a damp cloth or sponge to clean the kitchen or bathroom - this also works for taking crayon marks off the walls. Use baking soda to clean and deodorize garbage cans, baby bottles, and thermos bottles. First Aid: Make a paste with baking soda and water to treat insect bites, sunburn, and the itching of chicken pox. Put a little in your bath water to relieve minor skin irritations. Personal Care: Baking soda can be used as a deodorant - apply directly to skin. For acid indigestion and heartburn, try 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in half a glass of water. Use the same amount in 1/2 a glass of water to freshen your mouth - this will also relieve canker sore pain. Keep a box of baking soda handy when cooking in the kitchen or at the Bar-B-Q. If a grease fire should occur, sprinkle baking soda over it until the fire is smothered. Baking soda will also put out fires in clothing, rugs, or upholstery. These are just some of the uses for this amazing product - and it can be used for baking, too! Go To Page: 1
