Phoenix Update

a whole.

QNX have also gained tremendous support over the last 20 years, reports coming in to me from the recent QNX2000 show included such big names as 3Com, IBM, Hitachi and Motorola all eager to add money and R&D time into the mix - with IBM and 3Com already prototyping Neutrino based devices. Take note, this is a time when the big companies are having to stoop down and speak to the people who are doing the real cutting edge stuff - 'smaller' companies like Amiga, QNX and Tao who are better suited for the rapid change of pace and innovative thinking.

It's good to know that, through the work of Phoenix, the Amiga community has been acknowledged as a valuable contribution to their efforts. I would seriously urge any developer who hasn't taken a look to get involved in Phoenix - it's free so what have you got to lose? Remember, we're poised on the edge of something major and it's vital that we rally the community's impressive talent, ingenuity and resourcefulness if we want to make the step across the edge and put the Amiga firmly back where it belongs in the public eye.

The next article will be on the Open Amiga Foundation, particularly their plans for the GPL AmigaOS clone 'AROS Lite'. I'll be trekking across New Zealand, Australia and Singapore from 25th June - 20th July when the article will go up (boast boast), which will be an interesting experiment of spending almost a month with AmigaForever on a laptop for e-mail, digital photography, and assorted Amiga/KOSH/Phoenix-related projects.

Stay tuned for the laptop Amiga experiences, as well as personal reviews of both the new Amiga developer box and QNX Neutrino. Whoo, what a summer it's going to be!
