West Coast Pinups

The West Coast Pinups is a California-based group formed in 1997. Their music, which features lead singer Cella Blue, is definitely on the more adult oriented, hard driving side. Their new album, titled "Woman's Work," is a collection of honky tonk songs. The LP page contains RealAudio clips from the album that streams at 20KBps. The clips last approximately 30 seconds, but the sound quality leaves a little to be desired. Take the time to go to the MP3.Com page where four of the tracks are available for download in their entirety. Listening to these complete tracks at CD-quality playback is well worth it. You can order a CD from MP3.Com containing a total of six tracks for $6 called "A Taste of Woman's Work." You can order the complete album from the record label for $12 (including shipping & handling) or from CDnow (at $14 plus shipping & handling), Amazon.Com, or CD Universe.

The Schedule page lists just 2 events; the Links page has an interesting collection of radio broadcast shows, similar artists, venues, ad miscellaneous links.

HeardOn.Com

Platinum Entertainment is bucking the trend among record labels. They plan to give away their 15,000 song catalog over the internet. You can check out the early implementation at HeardOn.Com. The Country section contains MP3 downloads from Suzy Bogguss, T. Graham Brown, Roy Clark, Holly Dunn, The Gatlin Brothers, Crystal Gayle, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Eddie Rabbit. I also checked out the Pop/Adult Contemporary and found downloads for Crystal Bernard. You won't find a whole album to download, but you will find several tracks for each artist. This is a place to add to your computer-stored music collection and maybe find some new artists to add to your record collection.

Until next time - happy surfin'.
