This month, we'll explore the site of the Kinleys, a relatively new sister act that is taking country music by storm. We'll also explore the site of Pat Garrett, a country singer that has built a business empire in rural Pennsylvania.
The KinleysThe Kinleys is a sister act out of Philadelphia. The have been relatively successful with their first album and have a single off of the Touched By Angels TV soundtrack that has reached the upper parts of the charts; it has spent 27 weeks and peaked at #14 on the Viewpoint charts. A new album is expected out shortly.
The web site is fairly extensive. Navigation through the site is easy with a navigation bar consistently presented on the left side of the screen. The number of topics with the flat structure of the site makes the navigation bar extend for more than one, if not two, screens in length. There is the customary Bio and Picture information. The Tour information is up to date and presents their schedule through October 2nd of this year. The Fan Club page gives one a form that can be printed, filled out and sent using snail mail to join their fan club; the page also provides information on the benefits of membership.
The Audio/Video page presents sound clips in either WAV or RealAudio formats from every song on their first album as well as their "Sombody's Watching" single. There is even a sound clip from an acoustic version done at one of the Phoenix radio stations. There is a RealVideo clip of an interview from CountryFest '98. It would have been nice to include a couple of clips from some of their music videos. There is also a section that provides the lyrics for their songs; this is quite unusual given the fervor over copyright protection these days. The News secion provides limited information and still indicates a tentative April 27th release date for their new album. I was not able to find any updated information on a possible release and I suspect they'll wait a month or so after releasing the first new single to radio. Other sections allow you to vote for your favorite Kinleys single, provide feedback (comments/suggestions) on the web site, and a place to add yourself to a mailing list to receive notice of web site updates.
