Traditional Country Music

There are some restrictions to the mixing and matching, but it didn't seem to interfere with the Country section. My suggestion is that you have a strategy in mind before you order. My first attempt ended up with 20 Riders In The Sky selections costing me around $25 before S/H. In some cases you may be better off getting a Greatest Hits selection from the local record store, but the mix 'n' match capability is attractive. There's an "Insider's Club" that you can join to get one free song with every CD purchased. Membership is based on completing a survey. This is definitely worth a bookmark and a purchase. My disc has lots of yodelin'!

Essential Country

Music Boulevard and Time-Life have teamed up to bring back the finest collection of Country Music based on era or artist. There are twenty CDs that make up the collection. The eras range from the 1950s through the 1990s, giving you access to some of today's top artists. And the artist collections include Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings.

So if you haven't spent all your money on some of today's releases, and there's been a lot of good ones this year, I recommend one of these collections. You can't appreciate today's "new" country unless you have a firm foundation in the rich history of this special genre.

Until next time - happy surfin'.
