PART THREE

Yep it felt good to remember. I just wanted to crawl inside my head and live there. It was getting late and I felt so abandoned by my brother. That was when I decided to walk home. It really wasn't that far away. Besides it was almost Eight O'clock and I had been waiting for Mike for almost an hour.

It was cool enough for Cussy to walk on the ground now. Not that she would. She had been so spoiled by Trisha. She had carried her everywhere. I smiled and put her down. And we started to walk. That was when I heard Mike's car coming around the corner. You couldn't miss it. I knew from the sound of it that he still had that bright red 1972 Charger. The man was almost thirty years old and still had his high school toy car. Sometimes he just irratated the crap outta me but I still couldn't wait to see him.
He slowed down to look for me and I waved. As he had got out of the car I noticed he had let his hair grow out. He was dark and tall and lean. Man, he looked great.
"Hey Runt", he said smiling.
"Mike", I said, giving him a big hug. "'Bout time you got here."
"Well, I had to run an errand for Mom, took me a bit longer then what I thought it would."
Wow, I thought to myself. "Last I knew, you and Mom were not talkin' to each other."
"You have been gone awhile", Mike said.
"Ya, so?" I said back in my usual snotty sister voice.
"Well, ya know, it's not like you kept in close contact", He said looking down at me.
"Mike, it has only been two years. What could have changed that much?"
"More then you know Sammie, more then you could imagine". It was the first time, in a long time I had heard someone say my name out loud. It kinda took me back for a minute. He looked at me for along moment then said, "Common, Mom wants to see ya. She's got everything ready for ya."
