In my last article I talked about the term "Ethnic Cleansing". Although this article can relate to that topic, what I am about to discuss here should by no means to go unnoticed. Recently an article was sent to me from a close friend of mine. Thanks Dell. It was titled "Indian Hunting Season". As I sat and read this document I became more and more ill. I found myself sobbing. It cut to the very core of what American Indians deal with on a daily basis.

Whether this Flyer, that was passed around in South Dakota, holds true to action or not. Just the mere fact that it was made up and handed out, this is more then enough to case major concern for the safety of the local Indians in South Dakota. As far as that goes, nation wide. It has been confirmed that, yes indeed it was a real flyer passed out and that Senator Nighthorse Campbell is trying to get something done about it. Stacey Knerr (Kagakshi) Stated, "I finally spoke to a man by the name of Chris Chrangley, who is Senators Nighthorses Press Secretary. He confirmed to me that yes, the ad did run, but it was in a Tribal newspaper to get information out. The "ad" was taken from a Flyer that has been distributed in the South Dakota/Nebraska area. From what Mr. Chrangley says, the flyer is made up to appear like the SD Dept of Fish & game, but not to COPY it (it seems these people have respect for SOMEONE). Anyway, Senator Nighthorse did indeed contact Janet Reno about it, but there is no idea who originated the flyer itself." Thank you Stacey for all your hard work in this matter. Here is a copy of the Flyer. I have deleted some of the foul language that was present. Please hold strong as you read. It is very hateful. There is no other word for it. Please remember that this is NOT an actual flyer put out by the South Dakota Fish and Parks Department.

STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA, Game, Fish and Parks Department Pierre, SD 605) 224-0000 PROCLAMATION RE: Indian Hunting Season hunting fees: Free to first 7,683 hunters/ $1.00 thereon. Dear South Dakota Hunters: The 1999 Big Game hunting season in the state of South Dakota has been canceled due to shortages of Deer, Turkey, Elk and Antelope. However, this does not mean there will be no hunting. In the place of the big game animals this year we will have open season on the Sioux Reservations. This will entail the hunting of Americans Worthless Slounis Pyutus, commonly known as "Worthless Red B-------," Dog Eaters, "Gut Eaters, "Prairie N------" and "F------ Indians."
