Ethnic Cleansing?

A few months ago it seemed you would change the channel and every news station was using the term "ethnic cleansing". Many situations right here in our own country, warrants a closer look at the term "ethnic cleansing". We have been hearing these two words a lot in the news. Which seemed to have a rebirth with the Kosovo situation. From what I can best figure out, and please correct me if I am wrong, it is a fancy term developed during the Hitler regime. It is still being used today. And folks, well I just call that down right murder. I am awe struck how the media can take the word murder and make it sound like it is some kind of event or happening. Like it is part of the "normal". The American Indians are still dealing with "Ethnic Cleansing" today. Take a look at what is going on at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Recent deaths on the Reservation have many residents asking what is going on? One murder after another and the numbers are increasing. Whether these murders are coming from an outside source or from within, many people would still call this a form of "ethnic cleansing". Yet the United States Government spend all it's time and effort and money making sure that "ethnic cleansing" does not happen in other countries. However, this past weekend on the Pine Ridge reservation, 100 Oglala Sioux occupied their tribal headquarters and demanded a federal investigation and the resignations of the treasurer and other members of the governing council. They took matters into their own hands and the protesters are calling for the FBI to seize tribal records dealing with law enforcement, housing and other programs for an audit. They are requesting the resignations of all 17 members of the council. Perhaps we will now find out what is going on with all the murders on the reservation. The situation at Pine Ridge is a good example of how we need to clean up our own back yards. I am not sure about y'all, but my mamma always told me, "make sure your own back yard is fixed up before you help fix your neighbors". I think my Mamma was pretty smart in saying that. How can we, as the United States, help another country when so much is "showing" on our yard? That surely will not give confidence to our neighbor that we know how to make things right?
