ForWanderers assists caregivers in three ways:

First, the program furnishes a package of materials that identify the wanderer, alert on-site people to the situation, and provide a means of responding to the caregiver.

Second, since every minute counts when a wanderer is missing, the program maintains a personal Photo and IDentification Page for the wanderer in BirthNet's Family Registry.

Third, they offer insightful, informative and useful information related to care giving for potential wanderers. The identification and alert materials help avoid a potentially grave situation by allowing the wanderer to be easily identified and recognized as a person in need. Anyone coming in contact with the wanderer will have the information necessary to inform the caregiver. If the situation does turn more serious, ForWanderers uses the global communications power of the Internet to provide a comprehensive and accurate description and color photo of the wanderer to the authorities. Via the Internet, the photo and description is immediately accessible and can be quickly downloaded to any computer, printer or fax machine anywhere in the world.

Care Electronics provides special monitoring systems for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, the developmentally disabled, and their families.

Vigil Health Management has introduced into North America an Integrated Care Management System Today's leading care providers are designing facilities for the aged that are more like homes than institutions. They are striving for care models that are less intrusive, more effective and less expensive. These changing needs are the driving force behind the Vigil Integrated Care Management System, a software- and hardware-based solution which supports a dramatic improvement in dementia care.

New technology is ever evolving to help care for those with dementia in the home and the institutional setting.

I hope that these web sites can be of help to those who care for a wandering loved one. Please remember that the wandering person does not do it on purpose and may be frightened and disoriented and in great danger. It is important to keep your loved ones safe from harm.
