Unlike the commercial radio stations, DJs, and "music" fans that are
organizing petitions, speaking with city councils and all in all crying
about TCI Cable dropping MTV in parts of the country, I'm just not upset
about it. Let me explain. In 1984 MTV played music videos. In 1997 MTV
plays stupid TV shows that besides their neat soundtracks have absolutely
nothing to do with music. MTV all too often reminds me of Baywatch with
a great soundtrack. Let's consider some of the regular programming on
MTV. The Real World, Beavis and Butthead, and Singled Out are the shows
I run across most of the time and these shows aren't about music. Lets
get real is this MTV or XXX-TV because from what I see most of the time
these shows are about having as many loosely dressed women on as
possible(the real reason people want their MTV).
Do you remember the old Wendy's commercials "Where's the Beef?" well we should be asking MTV "Where's the Music?" Here's a better solution for all these "music" fans out there. Don't run around crying for MTV because there's no music to be found there, but instead go after M2. Why because M2 plans on playing videos...well at least for a couple years until they decide half naked women sell better then supporting new music. Or even better yet look into your local cable channels because often they have a music video show such as programming that the ZTVideo Network puts out. Go To Page: 1
