Well summer has arrived and with it comes, heat, and more music festivals than can be mentioned in a mere 250 words. In recent years the big traveling festivals, such as Lollapalooza have declined but despite that, live music is still a big part of the summer. Because truly summer nights are meant for live music, and here in Milwaukee there are all kinds of music bursting out from every corner. Going on right now is Jazzfest, an assortment of block parties, daily music on Kilbourn and of course the big event itself Summerfest.
Growing up in Chicago I often heard of the big time bands that would be stopping in the suburb... er Milwaukee to play. This year the bill includes the likes of No Doubt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink 182, Paula Cole, Indigo Girls, Blues Traveler, to name a few of whom will be making an appearance. I don't want to give the wrong impression, Summerfest also features many, many local and regional bands and has played a roll for more than a few bands on their way to the top. And yes, I'm hoping to take in Wisconsin's own, the Gufs, yet again this weekend. For more information on Summerfest you can check out http://www.summerfest.com or http://www.onmilwaukee.com. But really my point is that in every city (or even suburb) there's something for everyone and no excuse for missing out on an entire summer of hot nights and hot music, so get out there and take in some tunes.
