Isn't it the truth. Did you know MTV once stood for Music Television?
Yes, that's right; it used to stand for that but now it stands for Male
Television — meaning their target audience. The most ironic thing about
Beavis and Butthead is that they represent who MTV is trying to target
nowadays. I'll let you fill in the blanks on that one.
Anyhow, MTV simply figured out the truth of the matter — "Money Talks...and Sex Sells!" Have you ever noticed the extreme lack of less then beautiful women in today's music? I guess beautiful women are just better artists, right? No, there is something deeper going on here. The major labels simply understand that videos on MTV equal sales and a beautiful women fronting an "alternative" band has a great shot at play time on MTV. Mass quantities of cash to push the band helps too. This leads me to Kathode Ray Music. it is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to support good music whether the artist is beautiful or not. They put out compilation CDs with regularity and always jam the CDs full of good music. This month's CD includes many great new acts but specifically TagYerit is a band that makes some great sounds which is what it's all about. Not being sexy. Go To Page: 1
