Ok so I'm still stumbling out of the gates here in the first part of 2000, but I quit my job at MCI WorldCom, moved to Milwaukee and really feel like I've just jumped off a cliff! Anyhow with this move comes a great opportunity, more live music! Needless to say Cedar Rapids, Iowa isn't the Mecca of modern music! So clearly Milwaukee is a step in the right direction. I mean, come on Milwaukee's music scene can only be better!
My favorite band, the Gufs, are from Milwaukee and every year Milwaukee Fest has numerous name bands coming into town, not to mention Chicago is a hop jump and a skip away. From studying the local press it appears the electronic/techno movement has hit Milwaukee as more than a few clubs have DJs spinning. Anyhow hopefully in the coming months I'll turn the volume up on the Milwaukee music scene and investigate some of the many local establishments. I ran down a few links to introduce you to the Milwaukee scene: Milwaukee Rocks bills itself as "THE online source for Milwaukee music", and it appears to live up to the billing. (Incidentally this here is a very cool site, if you're an indie band) On Milwaukee's Nightlife page at least gives you an idea of what's going on in town and where to go. Milwaukee Musicians Resource Page is another page for the local artist to check out as it really attempts to build a community for artists. Anyhow that's a little into to my new scene for me and you!
