Protesters. And blame and for all of society's ills. This is what Marilyn Manson receives whenever he takes his act on the road. But especially now, after the recent tragedy at Columbine High School is the finger pointed at him because the perpetrators were reportedly fans of his music.
Now as I left work yesterday I walked pass the concert hall and there were TV crews from across the state and from as far as Omaha, Nebraska. You may wonder where I'm going with this but last night Marilyn Manson played here in Cedar Rapids and I debated quite a bit over going to the show, despite the fact I really don't think he's anything special. So why go? Simply because it is my choice and I'm a firm believer in personal choice and personal responsibility. So I decided to pass, as I really don't like his music. That's not to say I don't like "industrial" music, as I enjoy Nine Inch Nails, Prick, Machines of Loving Grace and right now I'm listening to Radio Free America. But my point is that it is sad the media and a part of our society has decided for us, that instead of blaming those two students we will place the blame elsewhere. I for one won't blame Marilyn Manson for the Colorado school shootings I blame those two students.

I'll admit it now - I'm 55 and even seeing him on David Letterman's TV show, Marilyn Manson seemed unpleasantly spooky. But either people DO make their own decisions - in which case David Reid is fun ...

Good to hear some sense on this issue. To many people are trying to point the finger somewhere other than at their own community. Being a teenager is about testing boundaries and finding out about you ...
