Fresh attitude, fresh technology, and fresh music...What is all of these?... mp3.com As much as the big labels would like to think, MP3 is just not going away and appears to be here to stay. And one of the coolest sites on the Internet working to insure that mp3s are here to stay, has to be mp3.com, it mixes fresh attitude, fresh technology, and fresh music. Fresh attitude. Here's a site that is staring down the guns of the record industry. The recording industry has tried to block the sale of mp3 players, and has had more than a few mp3s pulled from a variety of sites. Fresh technology. How cool is portable, digital music. The site includes an assortment of players, rippers, and encoders. Rippers? (A Ripper is used to create MP3s). For example, I downloaded MusicMatch 3, which is easy to use and has a sharp user interface, and it will both record and play MP3s. It is sorta the "starter" player recommended by mp3.com. Before today I hadn't really understood the significance of MP3 as a format, But, as today I recorded a one minute CD quality track which took up about 10 Megs, and then when I converted it to MP3 the same track was only 350k! Amazing! Fresh music. Thousands upon thousands of tracks. Mainly consisting of independent artists trying to make it big. And you'll also find some special tracks from mainstream artists that are pretty cool too. How cool is mp3!
