The Kabalas...: Band of the Month

Add two parts accordian, three parts humor, two parts fun, one part polka and what do you get? The Kabalas!

I recently had the opportunity to see these guys live and wow! One hundred percent fun. Their sound is unique: not often (never, actually) do you find a band playing "polkadelic klezmer," crime-jazz, and other blends of polka and Jewish melodies.

Polkadelic Klezmer? Crime-jazz? What? Well, Polkadelic Klezmer is a way to describe the merging of Polka, comedy, and Jewish melodies which turn into songs like "The Traci Lords Polka." Yes, the Traci Lords every male in the modern world is all too familiur with. Crime-jazz as described by The Kabalas is music from old black and white detective television shows. In between songs they took time to crack jokes, pass out Bazooka Joe bubble gum straight from Israel and really ensured the audience was having as much fun as the band. Often times bands are clearly performing for the paycheck and aren't enjoying the show but The Kabalas truly have a great time performing, which allows you to enjoy it as well. To fully appreciate the Kabalas you must see them live. It's a fun-loving party for all to share.

To find out more about The Kabalas check out their website because if this feature doesn't clue you in to just how fun these guys are, I know their website will!
