On September 11, 2001, America was hit with the worst strike of terrorism in history. Attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington D.C., have resulted in countless injuries and the loss of thousands of lives. Governor George E. Pataki issued an Executive Order that removes the limit on the size of emergency financial awards that can be made from the State's Crime Victims Assistance Fund to victims of the attacks on the World Trade Center buildings in New York City. "Tuesday's attack was catastrophic in terms of injuries, loss of life, hardship and suffering," Governor Pataki said. "We are doing everything in our power to assist the victims and their families as they look to recover from this disaster and this measure will allow the New Yorkers who have been affected by this tragedy to know that financial assistance will be there for them in their time of need."
