Eomecon chionanthum - tougher than we thought.If I was taking a guess, I would say; given you would be planting it in a woodsy protected spot, that this would be worth a try regardless of your cold factor over winter. I think the only reason mine have prospered here without a woodsy aspect or dappled shade is that they are planted in neat peat and equal parts course potting sand. The rhizomatous nature allows this to find the cooler spots where life is sustained. Even when not flowering the leaves on Eomecon chionanthum are an architectural statement created for your viewing pleassure. I do hope you give growing Eomecon chionanthum, or the snow poppy, far easier to remember; a growing try. Cheers- and Happy Gardening - Gary.
