Cypella lapidosa, plants to 30cm, generally averaging about 25ish cm. Flowers orange, again from Argentina, flowering December through to February.
Cypella laxa, big plants to 80cm. or more tall. The flowers are broadly yellow with the claw of the outer segment concave, lined brown; style purple orange, crests, yellow orange. Coming from Brazil in bog areas at altitudes of 500-1200m, in Santa Catarina and Parana.
Cypella osteniana. Flowers white, buffed light brown. Flowers April in Uraguay.Cypella pabstiana. Leaves to 10cm, stem of perhaps up to 7cm. Flowers yellow, with purplish veins and minute flecks and dots. Brazil, flowers October to December.
Cypella peruviana This is sometimes found under the name of Hesperoxiphion peruvianum, this flowers in central Peru December and January. Flowers can be all of these; yellow, yellow brown, orange or plain yellow.
Cypella pusila syn: Hesperoxiphion pusilla and Herbertia pusilla. A small plant to just some 12cm. or so tall, with its pale yellow fleeting flowers, softly gracing the day. A little gem.
Happy orderings and growing.If you get no other Cypella from lists this season, do try and grow Cypella hauthalii ssp opalina for it rewards you with months of fleeting flowers. Each flower fades in a day to be replaced again with newer larger delights.
