Moraea - Part 5


flower appreciates water while growing; in habitat it is found on seasonally watered slopes in tufts of sedges and grasses [Goldblatt] . This species has strong violet blue flowers, set off with yellow nectar guides. Most attractive, flowers from mid November onwards.

  • Moraea elliottii flowers as you see it. This species is pretty variable to height and flowering time, it is all a matter of place with this. It is late spring flowering here in Geelong.
  • Moraea tulbaghensis is between 25-35cm tall.

    Flowers bright orange, with orange yellow nectar guides. This species is easily distinguished by its deep orange flowers with intense peacock green edged nectar guides. Flowers in September.
