65. The Greed Goes On

help our community as a whole? Local newspapers are always listing various organizations that are looking for volunteers. Maybe it’s as simple as taking that thirty-minute walk each day and picking up litter along one’s pathway. What about just becoming more obsessive about reducing waste and recycling in one’s own home?

In other words, all of this is simply to say that we are one people, indivisible, under God; we can achieve great things with small actions by simply acting as one for the benefit of the whole. We each have the responsibility. What IF?

I leave you with two quotations to contemplate, both from men who did their share of quiet rebellion:

"It is a secret which every intellectual man quickly learns, that beyond the energy of his possessed and conscious intellect he is capable of a new energy... by abandonment to the nature of things; that beside his privacy of power as an individual man, there is a great public power on which he can draw, by unlocking, at all risks, and suffering the ethereal tides to roll and circulate through him; then he is caught up into the life of the Universe." Ralph Waldo Emerson

"You must be the change that you want the world to be." Mahatma Ghandi
