What's Your Ageless Potential?

© Peggy LeTrent

We are fortunate to be living in a time when unnecessary and unreasonable limitations on the way men and women meet and choose life partners are being brought into the glare of the noonday sun where they are questioned--and often discarded.

Granted, the problems associated with inappropriate sexual encounters and sexual harassment continue to be a concern. And a 50 percent divorce rate continues to undermine confidence in the institution of marriage. However, a number of not-necessarily-helpful-or-honest shibboleths, such as matching up with a person outside one's own religious denomination or of another race have gone from rarities to common occurrences.

These developments did not follow some great public "emancipation proclamation" saying in a public way that it would be "okay" for single people to consider these new options in the name of love. What happened was a lot of individuals who became couples making the decision that traditional parameters should not become permanent paradigms--not when the possibility of a lifelong love is at stake. Often, what was required was finding the courage to experiment with a relationship interest that might not be typical or traditional.

The person who has not found a successful match following the traditional selection process might be a candidate for a non-traditional relationship. At least, he or she should feel free to take a look at the alternatives, including an ageless relationship.

One common-sense indicator to pay careful attention to is the make-up of your circle of friends. Who do you spend time with and who do you feel comfortable with? If there is a pattern of relating well to older or younger people, it could be that this is a clue to your prospects for a copastetic love relationship.

If you want to check this out further, you might take a trial enrollment on one or more of the internet singles introduction sites that allow you to enter your criteria (including age range) for a list of potential "matches" for you. See if you get some matches in your age range of choice and if you do, contact one of more of the people who interest you and see what comes of it. This may also be an opportunity for a younger or older person to express interest in you. There are a number of online introduction services that allow you to set your own selection criteria including age range, race, and other criteria that are important to you. One that comes to mind is match.com. But there are many others to chose from.
