In South Africa, the trendy city of Cape Town is close enough for day trips to the wine regions of Stellenbosch and Paarl. Great surf beaches are just a car ride away, and whether you walk it, or take the cable car, the view from Table Mountain is almost unsurpassable.

For the animal enthusiasts, East Africa doesn't have the monopoly. The Okavango Delta in Botswana is teeming with wetland wildlife, and in contrast is the semi-desert of the Kalahari where the limited watering holes attract a diverse collection of fauna.

This is just a very brief overview of Africa's highlights. Over the coming months I intend to visit these and many other areas in more depth. So, join me as I take you on a virtual journey through the world's most exciting continent.
