5. How do you hone your craft? I continue reading as much as I can about writing. I enjoy nonfiction work that inspires me to keep on in spite of the negative things I encounter. People often say to read other people's work especially in the genre you plan to write. Should you do that, read it again like a surgeon, dissecting it and noting what worked (or didn't) and why (or why not). Learn to pay attention to life instead of just being a bystander as life passes you by. I just know what I like, and I write what I like always striving for the spirit of excellence. 6. In one sentence tell me about Wings of Grace. Wings of Grace is the follow-up novel to Promises Beyond Jordan that reminds us of what's most important and valuable in life including family members who might be the cause of the hurt we end up ultimately experiencing the most. 7. From reading the synopsis and an excerpt there is a great deal of things taking place in the novel. Do you use story arcs or any mapping techniques to keep the stories parallel and in sync with the main theme. Oddly, I don't. Maybe my brain is wired strangely, but for me, it's like watching or hearing a truth parade before me. I feel it in my spirit. I see it play out in my mind on a constantly, moving screen. When I write, inside of me, I have a certain "knowing." And should the words fail to show up on the paper as perfect as it felt inside of me, I know that; and I'll keep working, cleaning it up, and editing it, until it matches. And I do know when it's a perfect match. The snippets and bits of dialogues I have written down when they came to me before I began become like the dry bones Ezekiel spoke about when I sit down at my keyboard. Things begin to connect. Things I didn't have a clue would happen, show up to my surprise and delight. The characters come alive, and they have been known to take over and take the story in directions I may not have thought about going. I love that! 8. How does the title relate to the theme of this book? All of my titles have dual meanings. But to answer your question regarding the theme in Wings of Grace, I would say it's about people going to new heights under God's divine covering and experiencing His unmerited favor.
