Sexually Transmitted Diseases: Part Twowhites (CDC, 2000). Genital herpes is just one of the eight different kinds of types of human herpes. Another key fact is that genital herpes can only be transmitted through sexual activity, vaginal, anal or oral. How do you know if you have it genital herpes? Some of the signs are pain, burning, itching or tingling at the site of where the sores are (Rowland, 1999). Also, the symptoms depend on what type of genital herpes you have. Some of the symptoms for primary genital herpes are tiredness, headache, fever, chills, muscle aches, and loss of appetite. Symptoms for the recurrent genital herpes are some of the same as the symptoms of the primary but less. According to the article in the Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine their are some of the treatments are antiviral drugs, like acyclovir (Zoviraz), famciclovir (Famvir), valacyclovir (Valtrex), vidarabine (Vira-A), idoxuridine (Herplex Liquifilm, Stoxil), trifluorothymidine (Viroptic) and penciclovir (Denavir). There are also alternative treatment that can be used life watching diet, stress reduction and herbs. GONORRHEA This is a sexually transmitted disease that affects African Americans more compared to other racial groups (CDC, 2000). Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease that gives warning signs differently in men than in women. For men, symptoms may include burning when urinating and a discharge from the penis. As for women their may experience pain or burning when urinating or a yellowish vaginal discharge (Hughes, 2000). Continuance gonorrhea may cause conjunctivitis, pelvic inflammatory disease (PIV) and gonococcal infections. The treatments for gonorrhea are antibiotics, which can be taken orally or by injection. SYPHILIS Syphilis is caused by a bacterium called treponema palidum. Syphilis can cause a wide range of problems are which happens in stages. At first there are painless sores appearing in the genital area. After the sores disappear there can be a rash, fever, sore throat or hair loss. (Hughes, 2000). During my research I found there are different kinds of treatments available. In all my research I found that a constant treatment option was antibiotics. Antibiotics are available that can be given intramuscularly (like benzathine penicillin G) or orally (like doxycycline). In the final part of the article next week will rap up the remainders of the std's and sum up the information and show std prevent tips.
