As the summertime approaches there is always the thought of losing weight. There are a lot of different kinds of quick weight program out there. When I was thinking about this topic I began to notice that there are lot of women (myself included) that has a little more fat in some area than I would like. And not to say that this is a bad thing because you may be comfortable with your size if you are that is great, but if you want to lose a little than you may be thinking about going on a diet.
Group One- The Fad Diet We all know these kinds of diets. We see the infomercials and receive junk mail talking about the wonders of these diets. But how does these miracles weight loss programs work. According to the article, Fit or fad: A dieting decision “fad diets work by cutting your total calorie intake, they are short-term, quick fix approach to weight loss”. I tried some of the fat diets out there and I do have to say I did lose some weight. But after a while I gained the weight back. I think the one I tried was eating cabbage and drinking water. After a while I lost the weight but I was so hungry I went on a eating binge so I gained it all back and two pounds extra. Let me tell you there is nothing more depressing than reaching the goal that you had in mind and then it just slipping away. Group Two- The Diet |Pills Another way that people lose weight for the summer time is to use diet pills. These can fall into two categories, over the counter and prescription. The article, Why diet drugs can be diet dangers, talks about the two types of diet pills: “Over-the-counter weight-loss drugs, which affect, the central nervous system when combined with changes in eating habits and exercise, PPA can help people lose weight. However, the results are temporary and should only be used for the short term (not more than three weeks) until new eating habits are established”. “Even diet pills that are prescribed by doctor may not be completely safe, either. Although these drugs were effective in curbing the appetite, they were linked to heart valve disease as well as a condition called primary pulmonary hypertension. With this condition, there is an increased resistance to blood flow through the lungs. That puts strain on the heart and can lead to heart failure”. Go To Page: 1 2
