Strength gains and resistance training

Oct 4, 2002 - © Soumy Ana

These findings are important and suggest how an aerobic training can be optimized along with a strength training program. Steady state training below the anaerobic threshold does not compromise strength gains while workouts at higher intensity may damage your body and result in loss in muscle gain.

If you are an ordinary aerobist and your focus is health, your should keep exercising at moderate levels, so that it will not affect hypertrophy (muscle gain).

Working at higher levels of intensity seems, looking at the research, to be the cause of blunting of strength gains and hypertrophy when aerobic training is done along with resistance training.
