Your ideal instructor

Sport writers often focus on the importance of working out and eating right. Although these concerns are important, it is no less important to choose an instructor who motivates you towards your goals. A workout with a poorly designed session is maybe worse than not attending the class. A workout with a boring instructor makes it hard for you to come back and feel great about what you are doing. So, how does a good instructor probably look like? A good instructor is not somebody who looks handsome and muscular or the one who wears the tightest or fanciest sport cloth; it is the one who truly cares about you; it is the one who places your interest before his. Usually classes begin with healthy tips that you can concretely apply to your life. If your instructor is not providing any, feel free to ask him or her. Instructors are there for you; they would not be teaching except for you coming to their classes. These tips should be general comments on body composition, safety tips, new discoveries in the area of medicine, weight loss, conditioning, posture checks, and so on and so forth. Instructors may ask for comments and questions at the end of the workout. This is your time for displaying your concerns. If you are worried about something, then certainly other participants feel the same or have felt the same at one point in their exercise plan. Instructors are generally patient and welcoming; it is their job. They cannot be teaching without knowing the basics of sport medicine such as how to deal with common sport injuries or healthy eating habits. However, instructors cannot replace your doctor; it is not their job to diagnose. They are not your personal trainer and not your dietitian. They are just here to help and their knowledge is commonly very basic. So do not expect too much from them. Their main job is to make you move and feel better about yourself and your body image. Nothing more, but nothing less! A good instructor is the one who is willing to help you reshape your life and he or she cares a lot about your health, safety and well-being. He or she also likes to have feedback from you because the better their perform, the better quality your workout will be. Also give them positive input when they deserve it; everybody likes compliments and needs encouragement. Not just you! This builds caring and trusts between you and your instructor. And come on time and regularly for your sake and for the instructor's sake. It feels good to see the same faces every week; besides, it builds discipline. Finally, a good instructor should help you to check for progress, especially if you are paying a lot of money for this program.
