Non-Lead Telephone Talk ( Part Two )© James D. Dawson
In this part two of "non-lead" telephone talks, we will demonstrate how an actual non-lead telephone talk should be written for your use in obtaining advertisers in your own advertising newspaper.
The following is an actual non-lead telephone talk example. You of course will have to change the telephone talk to fit your own company name, etc. We will use fictitious names such as DAWSON NEWS AND DAWSON PUBLISHING in the following telephone talks. The ad space pricing in the following telephone talk has been actually used. But you may need to alter somewhat to be competitive in your part of the country. For the ad space pricing, just call some of your local newspaper companies and get ad space pricing to determine if what we are showing would be satisfactory. Non-Lead Telephone Talk: Hello, may I speak to the person who placed this ad in the _______________ newspaper? Hello___________, how are you doing? (Good...) __________, this is ___________ with DAWSON NEWS, you know your local business newspaper here in Indianapolis. The reason I called is we are getting ready for our very effective holiday issue here at DAWSON NEWS, and I thought my call would be timely and possibly of some interest to you. We have a very different, unique format and concept of a newspaper here at DAWSON NEWS, and what I mean by that is that we do not carry any articles or editorials. We are strictly a SERVICE GUIDE DIRECTORY. We represent entrepreneuers, such as yourself, in their chosen fields. DAWSON NEWS may include articles or editorials at the end of each issue, at the discretion of the publisher, DAWSON PUBLISHING. These articles or editorials will be of subjects the publisher feels are of importance to the business community and the general public. Also unlike any other advertising newspaper, our business newspaper DOES NOT charge any additional hidden costs for logo's, borders, reversals, bold letters, or capital letters. You see ______________, we try to dedicate our newspaper to giving our clients the excellent response they deserve when they advertise. What's really neat, is that our readers tell us that they keep our newspaper right by the telephone for when they need your service. They tend to use our newspaper as a reference guide. When they have a need for a service, they can find it EASILY AND INSTANTLY in our newspaper. You are looking for more business are'nt you? We leave the size up to you___________!!! We have display advertising all the way up to Full Page!!!
