Our Recent Story: Hannah Is Healing
ages and new level of development and awareness in life.

Hannah continues to do well, with only a few minor "flare-ups" this week. Most of her unsettled moments seemed to relate to her need to be near me, with me, attention from me, affection from me. It's as if I've been trying to fill an empty well for over three years now....but she still needs more. Our therapist commented that as our children begin to heal, they need to be filled with even more love, attention, and affection that is now filling the healed part of them. It's hard on us as parents because we're completely bonded to our children, and are getting tired of filling them up, over and over and over...

Hannah is healing from her RAD. I can tell. She can tell. She uses her words when she's upset. She does what I ask of her, with little or no complaining (most of the time). She accepts the consequences of her actions (usually). She seldom tries to manipulate me and my time. She seems much happier and more peaceful within herself. Her healing is a combination of having been seeing our super wonderful attachment therapist for 10 months now; Hannah's own commitment to heal; my on-going therapeutic parenting approaches; and the recent addition of medication, Risperdal, to Hannah's treatment plan.

Hannah had a few rough times this past week, but she worked through them much easier than she would have a few months ago. She's verbalizing her needs and frustrations. And she's much better about accepting the consequences of her actions. I like how she's healing. And, I'm going through my own growth and change and feel great about that, too!

Hannah continues to heal. She looks forward to the day she can "fire" our therapist! We had one odd episode that seemed to be triggered by some of Hannah's PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), but even that was worked through fairly quickly compared to past months.

Hannah continues to do well. (I hope I never get bored writing that!) She's agreeable and loving. She even offered to help me around the house the other day, just because she wanted to! Being on the Risperdal has caused her to gain weight...quite a bit. I'm trying to reduce her dosage slightly to see if that decreases her appetite.
